A complex weather system is moving through the region this evening into Friday morning, bringing a mix of heavy rain and accumulating snow that will impact travel conditions. Beginning late this afternoon, rain will lift across the area. As temperatures drop this evening and overnight, the rain will transition to a wintry mix and eventually all snow from northwest to southeast through Friday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 PM tonight until 6 AM Friday for Vilas, Oneida, Forest, and Florence counties, where snowfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches, resulting in snow-covered, hazardous roads. Rainfall totals are expected to reach at least 0.50" and up to 1" from central to far northeast Wisconsin, which may lead to localized flooding and ice jams on frozen rivers. Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates as these conditions evolve through Friday.
